I am so happy to be settling in my space again! For the past two days I spent almost all day organizing! It feels amazing! I think for the first time since we moved ( a year ago ) everything finally has a place!
So now I feel that I can get back on track with all the things I was distracted from this summer. The thing that inspired me to organize everything was this little painting!
She measures 11x14. She obviously not done yet but I am in love with her, she reminds me of Italy. I will post pictures of her when she is finished. Speaking of Italy I have been learning Italian lately--yeah that's right. But I am a bit torn because I always wanted to speak French. So I don't know if I should jump ship on the Italian and start learning French or if I should do Italian for two years and then take French b/c eventually I would love to learn both. I love Italy and I love the language and I can definitely see myself going back may times, but the thing is I would only be able to speak the language there for the most part. Well actually my father in law is totally fluent so I could speak with him on the phone and when I see him. I don't know, I guess I am torn because I just think that French is the most beautiful language and I love French music and movies but I have already invested a lot of time into Italian, learning how to read it and pronounce it etc--basically it would be easier at this point. Speaking of Frenchies I highly recommend Camille I listen to her CD La Sac de le Files on repeat--because it is AMAZING!
Oh and there is another thing going on in my life that I am VERY excited about. My very talented friend is shooting a new film this spring and he asked me to be the lead female. I cannot say how stoked I am to be a part of one of his films. We worked together before and I loved the way the movie turned out. He has a very sweet and mysterious style that always makes you want more. I will ask him if he has a web site, if he dose I will post a link. I am also so excited to be able to act! Acting is such a deep passion for me-- it is a very powerful medium for storytelling. Hopefully I will be doing a lot more work soon because the one thing about acting is that unlike painting you can't really do it by yourself. So I have to start pounding the pavement and auditioning again. Do you want to see my latest head-shot? Tell me what you think.
Do you like this one or....
this one. This is the hardest thing about being an actor. Is that you are the product that you must sell. I guess that could be said of anything really. But it is hard as a artist to sell anything let alone a head-shot. I know it is my preconceptions and insecurities but is just seems so corny. Oh well, it's something I am going to have to get over if I ever want to do the art. "If your gonna do the crime you gotta pay the time"
Oh by the way if anyone has any opinion as to which language I should undertake could you please give me your opinion. And if you could through in a vote for which headshot you like that would be awesome too. Well that is all for the moment -- Thank you for reading and have a good night :)

I have officially started to make profit!!! I was recording my expenses and profits today and realized that I have officially gotten back all the money I have invested and I am starting to make money!!! How exciting!
I have made $70.61 so far. That is really cool because it takes so much time and money to have a business of any sort and I have put most of my expendable income into this for the past year, year and a half so it feels wonderful to say I haven't lost a nickel and I am starting to make profits! I am so excited to see what the future of my little business will be. My sister Marita is going to drop samples of my bags off at some boutiques for me so hopefully I will get some orders that way. Well I thought that I would share my little bit of heaven for the day. Talk to you soon!

It seems life moves so quickly that in the matter of weeks we are entirely different people almost. I have not been keeping up with my blogging ( or my art :( lately because I have been traveling, going to weddings and seeing my family. I am so grateful for all of the beautiful experiences I have had this summer, but I am equally grateful to what my experiences have shown me.
I would say the biggest thing I have learned is truly valuing my own space-both physical and non physical. Traveling is great for the purpose of pulling you into a new reality, consuming all of your scenes so that it is a fruitless effort to bother yourself with your normal daily routines and concerns. But I feel revitalized by sitting at my own desk and proud of my accomplishments that surround me in my own space. The things I have created, the belongings that I pined for and earned, and even the bogs of raw materials calling for me to mold them into new form is beaming with possibility.

I am sorry I was away for so long, I was in the incredibly beautiful Italy. We stayed in a family run hotel in Castiglione Della Pescia which is in Tuscany north of Rome and on the Mediterranean cost. I will post pictures later but I just wanted to say hello :)

Recently I was asked if I do portraits, to which I excitedly answered yes! When I was in high school, I remember asking my art teacher how to get a drawing to actually look like the person I am drawing and he said "well it is really difficult, few people actually can so don't stress over it." If there is one thing I hate, it is being told something is not possible so from that day on I obsessively spent the length of each class ( I had two art classes a day, and sometimes my free period) drawing portraits of people in my class. I would sit in front of the mirror practicing drawing myself, I would draw people as they were drawing, or I would drag a friend in the the art room from the cafeteria and draw them. Needless to say all my practice lead me to not only being able to capture people's likeness but I was able to do a drawn portrait in minutes. Portraits are still one of my favorite things to do, I especially love the eyes because that is where you can really see someone's heart. After I do a portrait of someone I feel like I have learned a lot about them.
As I have gone on through the years, I have developed my own style and it has really allowed me to stylize the final product. I call these the "what you would look like if you were a Disney princess portraits"
This little set was commissioned by my lovely friend Deanna, we discussed colors and the feelings of the pieces that she wanted and she approved of the sketches and ...Wa-la! I have to say these pictures do nothing for the real paintings, I am so thrilled with the way they turned out. If anyone is interested in owning there very own portrait please feel free to contact me, you can convo me in my shop or email me Laumhug@yahoo.com :)

This weekend was my beautiful cousin Katie's Bachlorette Party here is a pic of the bridesmaids minus two:Lindsey,Kirsten,Kate-the Bride, and Me
First we dressed Katie up in proper Bride garb and had cocktails at her house
Then we danced
And Drank and Danced some more, I don't have a picture of it but we also went to Daisy Dukes and watched people ride the Mechanical Bull -- It was Awesome!
I had so much fun! It was my first time in hanging out in Rochester, I couldn't believe how cheep the drinks were because I am used to NYC prices. A Margarita was only $4 !
